อาทิตตปริยายสูตร หรือ “เพลิงธรรมเทศนา” ที่ทรงแสดง ณ คยาสีสะ หลังจากพี่น้องกัสสปะผู้บูชาไฟหันมานับถือพระพุทธศาสนา ทรงประกาศว่าอายตนะและอารมณ์ทั้งปวงล้วนลุกโชนด้วยราคะ โทสะ และโมหะ เมื่อจบพระธรรมเทศนา อดีตผู้บูชาไฟหนึ่งพันคนบรรลุเป็นพระอรหันต์

The Fire Sermon, taught at Gayāsīsa after the conversion of the fire-worshipping Kassapa brothers, declaring the senses and their objects all ablaze with lust, hatred and delusion, at whose conclusion the thousand former fire-worshippers attained arahantship.
