ジェータヴァナで仏を訪ねたある天神が、財産を燃える家から運び出した品物にたとえ、賢者は未来の幸福のためにそれを享受し気前よく施すべきだと勧める経。

A discourse in which a deva visiting the Buddha at Jetavana compares one’s possessions to belongings saved from a burning house, urging the wise to enjoy and give generously in order to secure future happiness.

すべての蘊は燃えていると説く経であり、これを見た聖なる弟子はそれらに厭離し、智によって解脱を得る。

A discourse declaring that all the aggregates are ablaze, so that the noble disciple who perceives this grows disenchanted with them and attains freedom through knowledge.

「火の説法」として知られるアーディッタパリヤーヤ経と同一だとされる経であり、同じ名称はサンユッタ・ニカーヤの天神への説法群の章名としても用いられる。

A discourse said to be identical with the Ādittapariyāya Sutta, the ‘Fire Sermon’; the same title also names a chapter of discourses to devas in the Saṃyutta collection.
