제타와나에서 부처님을 찾아온 한 천신이 재산을 불타는 집에서 건져낸 물건에 비유하며, 지혜로운 이는 미래의 행복을 위해 그것을 누리고 아낌없이 베풀어야 한다고 권하는 경.

A discourse in which a deva visiting the Buddha at Jetavana compares one’s possessions to belongings saved from a burning house, urging the wise to enjoy and give generously in order to secure future happiness.

모든 온이 불타고 있다고 선언하는 경으로, 이를 본 성스러운 제자는 그것들에 대해 염오하여 지혜로써 해탈을 얻는다.

A discourse declaring that all the aggregates are ablaze, so that the noble disciple who perceives this grows disenchanted with them and attains freedom through knowledge.

‘불의 설법’으로 알려진 아딧따빠리야야 경과 동일하다고 하는 경이며, 같은 이름이 상윳따 니까야에서 천신들에게 설한 경들의 장 이름으로도 쓰인다.

A discourse said to be identical with the Ādittapariyāya Sutta, the ‘Fire Sermon’; the same title also names a chapter of discourses to devas in the Saṃyutta collection.
