一則本生故事，講述受託澆灌御花園的猴王，為查看根系深淺竟下令將樹木連根拔起再澆水，藉此比喻善意若無智慧相佐反致禍害，故事源於一件真實的相似事件。

A Jātaka in which a monkey-king, entrusted with watering a royal garden, orders the trees pulled up to check their roots before watering—an object lesson, drawn from a similar real incident, in how good intentions without wisdom cause harm.

同一本生故事的另一版本，猴群受託連續七日澆灌花園，講述背景換成南山（Dakkhiṇāgiri）一名男孩，而非憍薩羅國。

A variant of the same Jātaka in which the monkeys are asked to water the garden for seven days, told in connection with a similar incident involving a boy in Dakkhiṇāgiri rather than Kosala.
