아기였던 붓다의 미래의 위대함을 예언한 바라문으로, 후에 오비구 중 한 명이 되었으며, 붓다의 초전법륜 후 최초로 법을 이해하고 출가한 인물.

A brahmin who foretold the infant Buddha’s future greatness, later became one of the group of five ascetics, and was the first person to understand the Dhamma and be ordained after the Buddha’s first sermon.
