仏陀を怖がらせ追い払おうとして失敗し、後に弟子となった夜叉で、後にパーヴァーで彼への供犠が捧げられる祠によって敬われた。

A yakkha who tried unsuccessfully to frighten and drive away the Buddha before becoming his disciple, later honoured with a shrine at Pāvā where sacrifices were offered to him.
