ชาดกที่แสดงเพื่อสรรเสริญทายกใจบุญแห่งสาวัตถีผู้ถวายภัตตาหารแด่พระพุทธเจ้าและภิกษุตลอดเจ็ดวัน ซึ่งพระพุทธเจ้าตรัสเล่าว่าบัณฑิตในกาลก่อนแบ่งปันทรัพย์สมบัติแก่ผู้อื่นแม้ในยามที่ตนดำรงชีวิตด้วยใบไม้และน้ำเท่านั้น

A Jātaka related in praise of a generous donor of Sāvatthi who feasted the Buddha and the monks for seven days, in which the Buddha tells how wise men of old shared their possessions with others even while surviving on nothing but leaves and water.
