바라문 바바리(Bāvarī)의 암자 근처 고다바리(Godhāvarī)강 유역에 살던 사람들. 그들의 왕 앗사까(Assaka)와 알라까(Aḷaka)는 숫타니파타(Suttanipāta)에 등장하며, 다른 문헌에서는 천민 씨족으로 여겨졌다.

상좌부에서 갈라져 나온 승단 무리. 여러 소규모 종파를 포함하며 주류 가르침과 다른 다양한 교리를 지녔고, 붓다고사(Buddhaghosa) 시대에도 여전히 활동하고 있었다.
