竹林精舍で説かれ、デーヴァダッタとコーカーリカが互いに信奉者を得るためにへつらい合ったことに関する話で、死骸を食べる山犬と、そこから利益を得ようとおもねるカラスの話を通じて語られ、両者はデーヴァダッタとコーカーリカと同一視される本生話。

A Jātaka taught at Veḷuvana in reference to Devadatta and Kokālika, who flattered each other to gain followers, told through the story of a jackal eating a carcass whom a flattering crow hoped to profit from, the two being identified with Devadatta and Kokālika.
