ชาดกที่ตรัส ณ เวฬุวัน เกี่ยวกับพระเทวทัตกับพระโกกาลิกะที่ยกยอกันเพื่อรวบรวมสาวก เล่าผ่านเรื่องหมาจิ้งจอกที่กินซากสัตว์ ซึ่งกาผู้ประจบสอพลอหวังจะได้กินด้วย ทั้งสองตัวคือพระเทวทัตและพระโกกาลิกะ

A Jātaka taught at Veḷuvana in reference to Devadatta and Kokālika, who flattered each other to gain followers, told through the story of a jackal eating a carcass whom a flattering crow hoped to profit from, the two being identified with Devadatta and Kokālika.
