本生故事，于竹林精舍所说，讲述提婆达多与俱迦利互相吹捧以拉拢信众，喻以一只豺狼在啃食牛尸时被一只谄媚的乌鸦讨好望分一杯羹，二者分别是提婆达多与俱迦利的前身。

A Jātaka taught at Veḷuvana in reference to Devadatta and Kokālika, who flattered each other to gain followers, told through the story of a jackal eating a carcass whom a flattering crow hoped to profit from, the two being identified with Devadatta and Kokālika.
