यह सुत्त अनुरुद्ध सुत्त के समान माना जाता है, जिसमें अनुरुद्ध सात महापुरुष-विचारों का ध्यान कर रहे होते हैं तभी बुद्ध प्रकट होते हैं और आठवाँ विचार जोड़ते हैं — कि धर्म थोड़े में संतुष्ट रहने वाले के लिए है, न कि विस्तार में रमने वाले के लिए — जिसके बाद अनुरुद्ध अरहत्व प्राप्त करते हैं।

A discourse identified with the Anuruddha Sutta, in which the Buddha appears before Anuruddha while he meditates on seven great thoughts and adds an eighth — that the Dhamma is for one content with little, not for one who delights in proliferation — after which Anuruddha attains Arahantship.
