마하자나까 왕의 뒤를 이어 미틸라의 왕이 된 아들로, 훗날 부왕(副王)이던 동생 폴라자나까에게 살해되었으며, 보살인 마하자나까 왕자의 아버지이다.

A son of King Mahājanaka who succeeded him as king of Mithilā, later killed by his brother Polajanaka the viceroy, and father of Prince Mahājanaka, the Bodhisatta.
