Pāli Dictionary

Īsadhara

Person

Eine der sieben Bergketten, die den Berg Sineru umgeben, Wohnstätte von Deva-Königen, Devas und Yakkhas, gelegen zwischen Karavīka und Yugandhara.

One of the seven ranges of mountains round Sineru. It is the abode of deva kings and of devas and yakkhas (SnA.ii.443; Sp.i.119; Dvy.217). It is higher than Karavīka, and between these two is a Sīdantara-samudda; next to Īsadhara and higher than it is Yugandhara, and between them is another Sidantara-samudda (J.vi.125).

The Mahāvastu (ii.300) calls it Isāndhara (suggesting its probable etymology).
