Aṭṭhana Jātaka
JātakaA Jātaka on the untrustworthiness of women, telling how a young merchant, having lavished daily gifts on a courtesan, was turned away empty-handed on the one day he came without money, and in disgust became an ascetic, told in reference to a monk tempted to leave the Order because of a woman.
On the untrustworthiness and treacherousness of women. A young merchant, Mahādhana, patronised a courtesan, giving her a thousand pieces daily. One day, having no time to fetch the money, he went empty-handed and was cast out. Thereupon, in disgust, he became an ascetic (J.iii.474 ff).
The story is related to a monk who wished to leave the Order on account of a woman.
