Also known as Acchagiri

スーラティッサ王がアヌラーダプラの東に建てた僧院で、後にヴァッタガーマニー・アバヤ王がここで仏教祭を催した。

v.l. Acchagiri.– A vihāra built by King Sūratissa to the east of Anurādhapura and near Dahegallaka (Mhv.xxi.60).

According to the Mahāvaṃsa Ṭīka (MT.424), Devānampiyatissa had also built an Acchavihāra to the south of the city, and in order that one might be distinguished from the other, Sūratissa’s work was called Purimāyacchagallaka.

It was there that Vaṭṭāgamaṇi Abhaya held a festival in honour of the Buddha with the help of the Thera Mahātissa of Kuppikkala. Mhv.xxxiii.67-8.
