Otherプナッバスとともに「アッサジ・プナッバスカー」と呼ばれる不品行な比丘の一派の共同指導者で、悪名高い「六群比丘」の一人。同名の経典は仏陀が別の比丘アッサジを訪ねたことを記録している
One of the leaders of the Assaji-Punabbasukā (q.v.), the other being Punabbasu. He was one of the Chabbaggiyā, the others being Mettiya-Bhummajaka, Paṇḍuka-Lohitaka J.ii.387; MA.ii.668.
