พระสูตรที่เปรียบเทียบคนพาลผู้ยังคงเวียนว่ายตายเกิดต่อไปเพราะยังพันธนาการด้วยอวิชชาและตัณหา กับบัณฑิตผู้ดำเนินพรหมจรรย์จนดับสิ่งเหล่านั้นและหลุดพ้นจากทุกข์

The fool experiences pleasure and pain that is dependently arisen from the six senses, fettered by craving and ignorance. So too does the wise man. So what is the difference? The fool has not lived the holy life for the abandoning of ignorance and the destruction of craving. The fool fares on to another body, so is not freed from suffering.

The wise man has lived the holy life for the abandoning of ignorance and destruction of craving. He does not fare on to another body, so is freed from suffering. S.ii.23 f.
