भारु देश का एक बंदरगाह, जिसे आधुनिक काठियावाड़ के ब्रोच के रूप में पहचाना जाता है, जहाँ से व्यापारी सुवर्णभूमि के साथ व्यापार हेतु समुद्री यात्रा करते थे

A seaport in the country of Bharu.¹ Mention is made of merchants going by sea from there to Suvaṇṇabhūmi.² Bhārukaccha was the residence of Vaḍḍhamātā Therī ³ and Malitavambha Thera.⁴

In the Mahāniddesa,⁵ Bhārukaccha is mentioned in a list of places to which men went for trade. Vijaya lived there for three months before sailing for Sri Lanka.⁶ Bhārukaccha is the modern Broach in Kathiawar. The people of Bhārukaccha are called Bharukacchakā.⁷
