Bhaggavagotta
PersonA wanderer who wore clothes, unlike naked ascetics, living near Anupiyā and a friend of Sunakkhatta, whom the Buddha once visited for a conversation recorded in the Pāṭika Sutta; he was so named because he belonged to the Bhaggava clan.
A clothed Wanderer (chaṇṇaparibbājaka) (DA.iii.816), who lived in a pleasance near Anupiyā. He was a friend of Sunakkhatta (q.v.)
The Buddha once visited him, and their conversation is recorded in the Pāthika Sutta (q.v.) (D.iii.1 ff).
He was evidently so called because he belonged to the clan (gotta) named Bhaggava (? potters).
