Buddhasaññaka
PersonAn Arahant who, in the time of Vipassī Buddha, was an earth-bound deity who, on feeling the earth tremble at the Buddha’s death, recognised his greatness and honoured him inwardly; he was later a king named Samita, and is probably identical with the elder Meghiya.
An Arahant. In the time of Vipassī Buddha he was an earth bound deva, and when, at the death of the Buddha, the earth trembled, he realised the Buddha’s might and honoured him in his heart. Fourteen world-cycles ago he was a king named Samita (Ap.i.151 f). He is probably identical with Meghiya Thera. ThagA.i.149 f.
