Bālapaṇḍita Sutta2
SuttaA discourse contrasting the fool, who fares on to further rebirth still bound by ignorance and craving, with the wise person, who has lived the holy life to end them and is freed from suffering.
The fool experiences pleasure and pain that is dependently arisen from the six senses, fettered by craving and ignorance. So too does the wise man. So what is the difference? The fool has not lived the holy life for the abandoning of ignorance and the destruction of craving. The fool fares on to another body, so is not freed from suffering.
The wise man has lived the holy life for the abandoning of ignorance and destruction of craving. He does not fare on to another body, so is freed from suffering. S.ii.23 f.
