Cāla
PersonAn eminent elder, son of Cālā and nephew of Sāriputta, ordained by Khadiravaniya Revata, who left the Kūṭāgārasālā when the Licchavis’ visits caused disturbance there.
Son of Cālā and nephew of Sāriputta. He was ordained by Khadiravaniya-Revata (Thag.vs.42; ThigA.i.110).
He is mentioned as living at the Kūṭāgārasālā, which place he left when the Licchavis caused disturbance by their visits to the Buddha (A.v.133). In this context he is spoken of as a very eminent elder and was, therefore, evidently an Arahant.
