A nāga king of Sri Lanka, nephew of Mahodara, whose quarrel with his uncle over a jeweled throne was the occasion for the Buddha’s visit to the island.

A Nāga king of Sri Lanka, nephew of Mahodara. His father was the king of Kaṇṇavaḍḍhamāna mountain. It was the quarrel between Cūḷodara and Mahodara regarding a jewelled throne that was the cause of a visit of the Buddha to Sri Lanka. Mhv.i.45 ff; Dpv.ii.7, 29; Sp.i.120.
