Dummukha
Personएक लिच्छवि प्रधान जिसने निगण्ठ सच्चक को बुद्ध के साथ वाद-विवाद में पराजित होते देखकर उसकी तुलना तालाब से खींचे गए और गाँव के लड़कों द्वारा सताए गए केकड़े से की; टीका बताती है कि उसके नाम का अर्थ भले ही कुरूप हो, वह वास्तव में काफी सुंदर था।
A Licchavi chieftain. He was present at the discussion of the Nigaṇṭha Saccaka with the Buddha, and seeing Saccaka discomfited in the debate, Dummukha compared him to a crab pulled out of a pond and ill-treated by village boys (M.i.234).
The Commentary says (MA.i.459) that Dummukha (ugly) just happened to be his name. He was in reality quite handsome.
