राजगह के दक्षिण में दक्खिणगिरि के निकट एक ब्राह्मण गाँव, जहाँ बुद्ध ने अपने धर्मोपदेश के ग्यारहवें वर्ष में किसान कासी भारद्वाज को उसी के नाम वाला प्रवचन सुनाकर धर्मांतरित किया

A brahmin village near Dakkhiṇagiri, to the south of Rājagaha. Once, during the eleventh year of his ministry, the Buddha visited the village and taught Kāsī-Bhāradvāja the sutta that bears his name and which converted him to the faith (Sn.pp.12 ff; SnA.i.136; S.i.172 ff).

Near to the village was the Dakkhiṇagiri-vihāra. SA.i.188.
