Gharaṇī
Person깨달음의 세 번째 단계에 이른 재가 여성 제자로, 붓다가 쌍신변(雙神變)을 나투려 할 때 스스로 땅을 물로 바꾸는 신통을 보이겠다고 나섰다.
A woman lay-disciple of the Buddha. She had attained the Third Fruit of the Path and when the Buddha was about to perform the Twin Miracle, she offered to perform a miracle herself — to transform the earth into water and dive about in it like a water-bird. DhA.iii.209.
There was a Gharaṇī Stūpa near Suppāraka (Divy.47).
