Ghatamaṇḍadāyaka
PersonAn Arahant who, ninety-four world-cycles ago, gave ghee to the ailing Pacceka Buddha Sucintita and was consequently reborn as king of the gods fifty-four times and king of men fifty-one times.
An Arahant. Ninety-four world-cycles ago he saw the Pacceka Buddha, Sucintita, afflicted with a nervous disease and gave him ghee (ghaṭamaṇḍa). He became king of the gods fifty-four times and king of men fifty-one times (Ap.ii.383 f).
His verses are repeated elsewhere (Ap.ii.436), and are ascribed in the Theragāthā Commentary to Ajina Thera. ThagA.i.250.
