A village in Sri Lanka where a flying novice named Tissa, upon seeing the local smith’s daughter bathing and singing with her friends, became so enchanted that he lost his power of flight.

A village in Sri Lanka. A young novice named Tissa of Pañcaggalalena, travelling through the air, saw the daughter of the smith of Girigāma bathing in a lotus pond with five of her friends, and heard them singing aloud. He was so fascinated by her that he lost his power of flight. SNA.i.70; ApA.i.128.
