Illisa Jātaka
Jātaka極めて吝嗇なことで悪名高い男の物語で、大目犍連が同じく吝嗇な銀行家を教化したことになぞらえて語られ、その銀行家はこの吝嗇な男の前世とされ、小さなものを大きくする神通力の一例として引用される本生話。
The story of Illisa. The Jātaka was related in reference to the conversion by Mahā-Moggallāna of the banker Maccharikosiya (q.v.) of Sakkhara. Illisa of the past is identified with Macchariyakosiya (J.i.345 ff).
The story is given as an example of psychic powers (iddhi) by means of which Moggallāna made a little thing increase manifold. Vism.ii.403.
