Jātipūjaka
PersonAn Arahant who, on hearing soothsayers predict at the birth of Vipassī that the child would become a Buddha, offered jasmine flowers in celebration; he is probably identical with the elder Samitigutta.
An Arahant. On the day of Vipassī Buddha’s birth many miracles occurred, and soothsayers predicted that he would be a Buddha. Jātipūjaka, hearing this, offered him jasmine flowers. Three world-cycles ago he became king thirty-four times under the name of Supāricariya (Ap.i.154).
He is probably identical with Samitigutta. ThagA.i.176.
