Jhānasodhana Jātaka
Jātaka‘유상도 아니고 무상도 아니다’라는 임종의 말을 남긴 고행자(보디삿타)의 이야기로, 그 말을 수제자는 올바르게 해석했으나 다른 이들은 믿지 않아, 보디삿타 자신이 범천계에서 내려와 그 설명을 확인해준 자타카. 상캇사에서 사리풋타가 내놓은 해석과 관련하여 이야기되었다.
The Bodhisatta was once an ascetic who, at the moment of his death, said “neither conscious nor unconscious.” His chief disciple interpreted these words, but the others would not believe him until the Bodhisatta descended from the Brahma-world in order to uphold his explanation.
The story was related in reference to an explanation given by Sāriputta at Saṅkassa (J.i.473).
This Jātaka is probably also called the Anaṅgana Jātaka (q.v.)
