Jīvaka Sutta2
Sutta佛陀向耆婆解说:受持三皈五戒者方为在家居士,此人能利益自他的一部经。
Questioned by Jīvaka, the Buddha explains that an upāsaka is one who has taken the Three Refuges and the Five Precepts, and that such a man, by reason of his qualities, works the welfare both of himself and others. A.iv.222 f.
