An ancient philosopher, associated with Kanāda, who taught that the soul was limitless, probably identical with the founder of the Sāṅkhya system.

An ancient teacher of philosophy, mentioned together with Kanāda as having taught that the soul was limitless (na antavā) (UdA.339; see also Svetasvatara Upanisad v.2, and Rāmāyana i.40). He is probably identical with the founder of the Sāṅkhya system.
