미얀마 도시 타웅우의 팔리어 이름으로, 한때 유명한 코끼리를 소유한 왕의 수도였으며, 스리랑카 출신 승려에 의해 불교가 확립된 곳이자 훗날 명망 높은 승려들의 본거지가 되었다.

Ketumatī is in Jeyyavaḍḍhanaraṭṭha. It was once the capital of King Mahāsirijeyyasūra who possessed a famous elephant, called Devanāga. Buddhism was established in Ketumatī by a monk from Sri Lanka named Mahāparakkama. It later became the residence of famous monks. Sās., pp.80, 81; see also 101, 118, 162.
