Khallāṭanāga
PersonA king of Sri Lanka, son of Saddhā Tissa, who built the Kurundavāsoka monastery before being killed by his own general.
Son of Saddhā Tissa and younger brother of Lañjakatissa. He was king of Sri Lanka (50-43 B.C.).
Among his religious works was the construction of the Kurundavāsoka-vihāra.
He was killed by the general Mahārattaka. Khallātanāga’s wife was Anulā, and his son was Mahācūlika. Mhv.xxxiii.29 ff; Dpv.xx.12 f.
