Kukkula

A hell of glowing coals into which King Daṇḍakī was reborn for his heinous crime, located beside the Gūtha hell and the Simbali forest.

One of the hells (niraya). King Daṇḍakī was born there because of his heinous crime (J.v.114, 143; ItvA.195).

Sarabhaṅga spoke of him as suffering there, sunk in a mass of glowing coals (kukkula) one hundred leagues deep; huge glowing sparks fall on him and enter his body through nine sores (J.v.144).

Beside this hell are the Gūtha-niraya and the Simbalivana. M.iii.185.
