Kumuda

Person

A hell, or more precisely a vast span of suffering equal to twelve Padumas, into which the monk Kokālika was reborn.

A hell (niraya) — strictly speaking, a period of suffering. It is equal to twelve Padumas.

The monk Kokālika was reborn in Kumuda-niraya. S.i.152 f; see also SN., p.126; SNA.ii.476.
