Person마힌다를 출가시킨 비구로, 제3차 결집 후 마히사만달라로 파견된 전법사로서 천사경을 설하여 수만 명을 귀의시키고 출가시켰다.
He conferred the going-forth (pabbajjā) on Mahinda (Mhv.v.206; Dpv.vii.25). After the Third Council he went as a missionary to Mahisamaṇḍala, where he taught the Devadūta Sutta, converting forty thousand people and conferring ordination on forty thousand more. Mhv.xii.3, 29; Dpv.viii.5; Sp.i.66.
