Mahāgovinda

Person

A primeval king who reigned in Rājagaha alongside Mandhātu; a figure of the same title, Mahāgovinda-paṇḍita, is also said to have planned and built the city of Rājagaha.

A primeval king, mentioned with Mandhātu as reigning in Rājagaha. SNA.ii.413; DA.i.132, etc.

VvA. (p.82) speaks of a Mahāgovinda-paṇḍita by whom Rājagaha was planned and built.
