Ojadīpa

An old name for Sri Lanka used in the time of Kakusandha Buddha, whose capital was Abhayanagara and who was visited there by the Buddha.

The Buddha visited Ojadīpa and occupied the Mahātittha garden (Mhv.xv.57 ff; Dpv.i.73; ix.20; xvii.5, 16, 23; xv.35-8; Sp.i.83).

Its mountain was Devakūṭa, the modern Pilayakūṭa (Mbv.126).
