PersonAn arahant who, in the time of the Buddha Padumuttara, was a Veda-learned ascetic who offered him a puṇḍarīka fruit, and is thought to be the same person as the elder Susārada.
An Arahant. In the time of Padumuttara Buddha he was an ascetic well versed in the Vedas who, seeing the Buddha, gave him a puṇḍarīka fruit. One hundred and seven world-cycles ago he was a king named Sumaṅgala (Ap.i.160 f). He is probably identical with Susārada Thera. ThagA.i.167.
