An incumbent monk of Kaṭakandhakāra who became an Arahant after finding joy in contemplating a form of the Buddha that was actually Māra in disguise.

An incumbent of Kaṭakandhakāra in Sri Lanka. He was among those taking part in the assemblies mentioned in Kuddāla, Mūgapakkha, Ayoghara, and Hatthipāla Jātaka (J.iv. 490; vi. 30).

Once Māra, assuming the form of the Buddha, tried to tempt him, but the elder, seeing this form and deriving joy from its contemplation, became an Arahant. Vism. 263.
