Poṭṭhapāda Sutta
Sutta장부의 아홉 번째 경으로, 말리까라마에서 부처님과 유행자 뽓타빠다가 선정의 상태와 자아의 본질에 관해 나눈 대화이며, 서른두 가지 무익한 “축생론”의 목록으로 유명한 경
The ninth discourse of the long discourses. A discussion between the Buddha and the wanderer Poṭṭhapāda, held at the Mallikārāma (D.i.178-203). It deals with the question of trances and of the soul, and also whether the world is infinite or eternal.
This sutta is significant as containing a list of the thirty-two types of “animal talk” (tiracchāna kathā) that the wanderers appear to have discussed at their meetings.
