พระสูตรว่าด้วยภิกษุตระกูลกัสสปะผู้ไม่เห็นด้วยกับคำสอนของพระพุทธเจ้าว่าเคร่งครัดเกินไป ภายหลังสำนึกผิดจึงติดตามพระองค์ไปยังกรุงราชคฤห์เพื่อสารภาพความผิด และได้รับคำชมเชยในการสารภาพนั้น แม้จะถูกเตือนว่ามีเพียงผู้ที่มีความเพียรเท่านั้นจึงสมควรได้รับการยกย่อง
v.l. Paṅkadhā Sutta.– When the Buddha stayed at Saṅkavā during one of his tours and instructed the monks there, a monk of the Kassapagotta disapproved of his teaching, thinking that he was too scrupulous. However, later, when the Buddha returned to Rājagaha, the monk, filled with remorse, followed him there, and confessing his transgression, begged for forgiveness. The Buddha praised him for having made confession, and said that only those monks who were zealous in the practice of religion deserved praise, but others did not. A.i.236 f.
