JātakaA Jātaka using the same present-day story as its companion tale, in which the Buddha explains that love kindled in past lives springs up afresh, like a lotus reborn in its pond.
The story of the present is the same as in the above Jātaka. When the Buddha returned to the monastery he was asked how the brahmin had recognised him. He explained how, in those who have loved in previous lives, love springs afresh, like lotus in the pond. J.i.234 f
