Sīhahanu

Father of Suddhodana and thus grandfather of the Buddha, who had five sons and two daughters and maintained close friendship between the Sakyan and Koliyan peoples.

Father of Suddhodana, and therefore grandfather of the Buddha. His father was Jayasena. Sīhahanu had five sons and two daughters:

Suddhodana

Dhotodana

Sakkodana

Sukkodana

Amitodana

Amitā

Pamitā

His wife was Kaccānā (Mhv.ii.15 f; Dpv.iii.44 f). Asita was his chief priest (purohita).

Until the time of Sīhahanu, great friendship existed between the Sākyā and the Koliyā (SNA.i.356).
