Ākoṭaka

Person

A deva who, visiting the Buddha at Veḷuvana with several companions, spoke in praise of various rival teachers before Vegabbharī rebutted his praise.

A deva who visited the Buddha at Veḷuvana accompanied by Asama, Sahali, Niṅka, Vegabbharī and Māṇavagāmiya.

Ākotaka spoke before the Buddha in praise of various teachers of other schools:

Pakudha-Kātiyāna (sic.),

Nigaṇṭha

Makkhali

Pūrana.

Vegabbharī made rejoinder to Ākoṭaka, speaking disparagingly of the teachers he had mentioned. S.i.65.
