The fifth of the five ascetics first taught by the Buddha, whose recitation of a famous verse on dependent origination to the wanderer Sāriputta led directly to the conversion of Sāriputta and Moggallāna.

푸납바수와 함께 아사지-푸납바수카라 불리는 불량한 비구 무리의 공동 지도자로, 악명 높은 ‘육군비구’ 가운데 한 명이다. 같은 이름의 경은 부처님이 다른 비구 아사지를 방문한 일을 기록한다

A co-leader, with Punabbasu, of the unruly monk faction called the Assaji-Punabbasukā, one of the notorious ‘Group of Six’ monks; a sutta of the same name records the Buddha’s visit to the other monk Assaji.
