一则本生故事，其古代本事仅见于别处的交叉引用，此处记述的缘起是阿罗毗城的比丘四处求人捐助建屋材料而惹人厌烦，大迦叶因被误认作其中一员而查明缘由并禀告佛陀，佛陀借此斥责这些比丘，称古时沙门即便蒙国王许其任意所求，也从不为个人享用而乞求。

A Jātaka whose ancient story is only cross-referenced elsewhere, framed here by an account of monks in Āḷavī pestering people for building materials until Mahā-Kassapa, mistaken for one of them, learns the cause and reports it to the Buddha, who rebukes the monks by recalling that ascetics of old never begged for comforts even when a king offered them their choice.
